Henk Bezuijen (1950) attended the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam from 1969 - 1975, and the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague. He has had various expositions in The Hague, Zeist and Amsterdam and some of his work was bought by the Public Transport Authority of Amsterdam. His work consists mainly of portraits (also on commission), landscapes and still-life, executed in various materials and techniques. Much of his work is inspired by his immediate surroundings.
Some comments on his work:
It is the emptiness of his work that is so striking, an emptiness that is not
deathlike, however.
The simplification and the omission of details express the nakedness of life
in a form of absurdism. It is not terrifying or even frightening. It is a way of
showing the world as it is, stripped as far as possible of human intentions.
You could put it like this: he opens up something of the world.
